Yard Goats Fall 5-4 in New Hampshire

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the eighth inning and defeated the Yard Goats 5-4 on Wednesday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Eric Snow and Mathieu Valley hit back-to-back doubles, helping prevent the Yard Goats from securing consecutive wins. Jacob Humphrey had two hits for the Yard Goats.

The Fisher Cats scored the first run of the game in the first inning off Hartford starter Sam Weatherly on Dub Gleed’s RBI single. The Yard Goats took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Roynier Hernandez and a run-scoring single by Cole Messina.

However, the Fisher Cats took a 3-2 lead with two runs in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double by Carter Cunningham and an infield grounder by Victor Arias.

The Yard Goats scored two runs in the third to take a 4-3 lead. Hartford tied the game on an infield single by Braylen Wimmer, scoring Jacob Humphrey, and went in front 4-3 on a throwing error that allowed Jared Thomas to score.

The Fisher Cats tied the game with a run in the fourth inning on Carter Cunningham’s solo homer off reliever Cade Denton to make it 4-4.

Victory Juarez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief and Hunter Mann fired a scoreless seventh inning. However, Eric Snow cracked a two-out double in the eighth inning and Mathieu Valley followed with a double to left field, scoring Snow and giving New Hampshire a 5-4 lead.

The Yard Goats continue the six-game road trip on Thursday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. LHP Bryson Hammer will start for the Yard Goats and LHP Johnny King will start for the Fisher Cats.
