MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs have announced that Jackson Generals slugger Kevin Medrano has been declared batting champion for the 2018 regular season. Additionally, Biloxi Shuckers RHP Zack Brown has won the Southern League's ERA award.
Medrano, 28, was voted as a Southern League midseason and postseason All-Star this season; in part due to his .331 (122-for-369) batting average. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native also ranks third in the Southern League with 30 doubles for the Generals this year.
Brown, 23, earns the Southern League's ERA crown after recording a 2.44 mark (34 ER/125.2 IP) across 22 games and 21 starts this season. A native of Seymour, Indiana, Brown was named the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher as well as both a midseason and postseason All-Star.
