Modesto, CA. - Shaun Anderson shutdown the Modesto Nuts' offense in a 6-2 loss against the San Jose Giants on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
Giants (54-64; 24-24) starter Shaun Anderson (W, 2-1) worked 5 2/3 innings and allowed just two light singles allowing an unearned run with four strikeouts and no walks.
Meanwhile, the Giants chipped away at Robert Dugger (L, 1-2) over 4 2/3. Dugger was touched for seven hits leading to three runs while striking out six and walking one. A two-out RBI single in the third put the Giants on the board first. A lead off double scored on a two-out RBI single in the fourth. Dugger was knocked out in the fifth when Matt Winn smacked a RBI double with two outs.
Donnie Walton had two of the Nuts three hits including a double and a run scored in the eighth.
