Modesto, CA. - Seven extra-base hits by the Lancaster JetHawks led the 9-5 defeat of the Modesto Nuts on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.
Nathan Bannister (L, 2-3) started for the Nuts (22-17) and surrendered nine runs on ten hits with four strikeouts and no walks. In the first, Garrett Hampson tripled and scored on a wild pitch. In the third, two runs scored on two passed balls before Brian Mundell launched a two-run homer. Sam Hilliard added a RBI double in the fifth. Back-to-back RBI doubles by Wes Rogers and Chris Rabago in the sixth knocked Bannister out of the game.
Chris Mariscal reached four times for the Nuts while scoring two runs. Eric Filia drove in two runs and had a triple as part of a 2-for-5 night. Jordan Cowan drove in two runs with a sac fly and a RBI single. He also whacked a double and walked.
Carlos Polanco (W, 2-2) tossed 2.1 innings out of the JetHawks' bullpen allowing just one run with three walks and a trio of strikeouts.
