Attendance Momentum Building at Werner Park

Storm Chasers' fans coming out in droves as weather warms up
May 11, 2011
OMAHA, Neb. - With warmer weather finally reaching the Omaha area this week, the Storm Chasers are poised for a record-setting season at the turnstiles at brand-new Werner Park. Total attendance is up nearly 10 percent from Rosenblatt Stadium a year ago, a key indicator of future success at the gate.

Through 15 home dates, 68,246 fans have visited Werner Park, an average of 4,550 per game. That bests last year's average of 4,173 during the same time span, a significant increase considering the average temperature during the first 10 games was just 56.3 degrees - down 12 degrees from 2010. The Omaha club went on to welcome 406,276 fans to the ballpark a season ago.

"We are very pleased with the excitement that area fans have had for Storm Chasers baseball early this season," said Storm Chasers Vice President/General Manager Martie Cordaro. "Our staff has worked very hard to create a ballpark people will enjoy. We hope new fans will take advantage of the great venue that is Werner Park."

Another great indicator of success is the amount of dates with over 4,000 fans in the ballpark. The Storm Chasers have seen at least 4,000 fans for nine straight games dating back to April 22 - one shy of the all-time franchise record of 10. In fact, over the past decade, this is just the third time more than 4,000 fans have come to a game for more than five straight dates.

Fans who visit Werner Park are being treated to a sporting experience they can't find anywhere else in the region, from the Centris Family Fun Zone with carousel and bounce houses, to the Quality Brands Downdraught Bar with the "Bottoms Up" beer dispenser, to the Borsheims Whiffleball Diamond. The product on the field has been successful as well, with the Storm Chasers leading their division by four games entering Wednesday's game.

Tickets are available for each of the remaining 56 home games this season at Werner Park, although seats are going fast for several of the premium dates, including Independence Weekend (July 1-3), the Werner Enterprises concert featuring Jack Ingram and Heidi Newfield (July 15) and the nine remaining American Family Insurance Friday Fireworks nights.
