National Anthem Tryouts Set for February 8 at Oak View Mall
OMAHA, Neb. - If you have always wanted to perform America's theme song in front of thousands of people, the Storm Chasers are giving you the opportunity to realize that dream. To do so, you must impress the judges on hand at the Oak View Mall on Saturday, February 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the annual National Anthem Tryouts competition.
Entrants will be judged on several criteria including lyrical accuracy, voice quality, voice projection, pitch, presentation and overall performance quality. Each successful contestant will receive up to four complimentary tickets to the Storm Chasers game at which they will perform during the 2014 season.
"This is an event that a lot of our fans look forward to, and we are excited to see all the returning favorites as well as the newcomers that make this competition fun," said Andrea Stava, Assistant General Manager of Operations for the Storm Chasers. "It really is amazing to see someone achieve their goal by performing well at the tryouts."
In order to perform at the tryout, interested individuals and groups must pre-register online with the 2014 Omaha Storm Chasers National Anthem Registration Form on www.omahastormchasers.com under the "Community" tab. Each pre-registered contestant will be contacted to schedule the time of their performance. For any questions, contact Community Relations Manager Caitlyn Brown at (402) 738-5103 or [email protected].
During last year's National Anthem Tryout, more than 200 individuals and groups competed for the 72 spots available throughout the Storm Chasers season. Nine judges from the Omaha Metro will make up the panel deciding who will entertain fans at the start of each home game.
The Oak View Mall is located near the intersection of 144th and Center streets in west Omaha. Performances will be held near the Food Court.
The first chance to hear one of the winners of this annual competition will be the 2014 season opener at Werner Park on Thursday, April 3 when the Chasers take on the Nashville Sounds.
