Kalish, Soler Outduel Kershaw in 4-0 Win

Chasers defeat rehabbing Dodgers ace before sellout crowd
August 26, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY - Facing Clayton Kershaw (and the largest Oklahoma City crowd since 1998), Jake Kalish didn't blink. Instead, he blanked the opposition over 7 terrific innings, and Jorge Soler's home run was enough to beat Kershaw and the Dodgers 4-0 on Saturday night at Bricktown Ballpark.

Soler gave Omaha a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd, notching his 20th home run of the season with a towering longball to left field against Kershaw.
That was the only run that Kershaw (L, 0-1) allowed over 5 innings; he yielded only 2 hits, walked none, and struck out 8.
But Jake Kalish (W, 1-0) was even better, pitching outdueling Kershaw over 7 scoreless innings. He struck out a season-high 8, walked 2, and scattered 5 hits.
The Chasers doubled their lead in the top of the 6th against Fabio Castillo. Terrance Gore tripled, and Ramón Torres hit a sacrifice fly that was just deep enough for the speedy Gore to tag and scamper home for a 2-0 advantage.
Omaha tacked on 2 more in the top of the 8th. Hunter Dozier doubled and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch by Castillo. Billy Burns scored Dozier with an RBI single, and Burns went to 3rd on a single by Terrance Gore. Ramon Torres followed with his 2nd sacrifice fly of the night, making it 4-0 Chasers.
Seth Maness pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th, and did the same in the bottom of the 9th to keep a record crowd of 13,106 quiet.
The Storm Chasers will conclude their series in Oklahoma City with a doubleheader tomorrow. Omaha's starters are to be determined, while RHP Brock Stewart (0-0, 2.03) will start Game 1 for the Dodgers. First pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 3:35.
