Chiefs Announce Action-Packed Promo Schedule

The Peoria Chiefs have announced their Entertainment Lives Here! promotional schedule for the upcoming 2010 season which includes some old fan favorites along with some exciting new additions.

Among the new additions to the Chiefs schedule this season is Michael Jackson Tribute Night on Saturday, June 19 featuring a post-game Fireworks show and concert by Who's Bad, a nationally renowned MJ cover band. The Chiefs have also added a Webkinz giveaway on Sunday, August 8 presented by the Children's Hospital of Illinois and the Webkinz will be given to the first 1200 kids (9 and under). Another newcomer to the promotional schedule is Team Ghost Riders, a troupe of monkeys riding dogs while herding sheep. Team Ghost Riders will perform after the Thursday, July 15 game. Also making his O'Brien Field debut this season will be Reggy the Purple Party Dude who will perform throughout the game on Friday, July 16. Big Daddy Weave will perform following the game and Fireworks on Saturday, June 26 for the annual Faith And Family Night presented by Hoerr's Berean Bookstrore and 91.5 WCIC.

Starting on Saturday, May 1 Fireworks will light up the sky over O'Brien Field after every Saturday night home game. Saturday Fireworks nights include: May 29, June 12, June 19, June 26, July 17, August 7 and August 28. In addition there will be Fireworks shows after Friday games on June 18, July 9, July 30, August 13 and August 20. All 13 Fireworks night games will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Coming back to O'Brien Field again this season are popular entertainment acts BirdZerk, The ZOOperstars and Myron Noodleman along with Coco Loco, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band. Myron Noodleman will entertain fans on Friday, June 11 with the ZOOperstars following on Friday, June 25 and BirdZerk on Sunday, July 4. Coco Loco will take to the stage at home plate following the Fireworks show on Saturday, August 7 which is the always popular Jimmy Buffett Night.

Cubs Legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins returns to O'Brien Field on Saturday, June 12 as the feature guest in the Eighth Annual IPMR Legends at the Ballpark Event. Jenkins was last at O'Brien Field in 2006 and he will throw out a first pitch before signing autographs during the game to benefit IPMR.

Among the new and exciting Theme Nights for 2010: Snoop Shizzle Night, Road Construction Night, Salute to the 1985 Bears, Dueling Pianos Night, Brides and Baseball Bridal Show, Home Consultants Showcase, Sarah Palin Night, and Infamous Illinoisans Night. Snoop Shizzle Night (April 28), Road Construction Night (May 26) and Infamous Illinoisans Night (August 25) are Wacky Weiner Wednesday themes and designed to add an element of fun and laughter at the ballpark. The Salute to the 1985 Chicago Bears who steamrolled to the Super Bowl Title with an 18-1 record and the Super Bowl Shuffle will take place on Thursday, August 26 as the NFL season nears. Dueling Pianos Night on June 12 will feature in-game performances from professional pianists with fan requests welcome. Brides and Baseball is a Friday, April 30 event that will bring all aspects of a Bridal Show to O'Brien Field so those planning weddings can book a DJ, florist, wedding planner or order tuxedos and dresses all while enjoying baseball at the same time. The Home Consultants Showcase comes on Mother/Daughter Night Tuesday, May 25 and allows fans to shop for products they can normally only get at home parties such as Avon, MaryKay, jewelry, etc. Sarah Palin Night is another addition on Friday, July 30 as the Chiefs have some fun with the former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate.

Many popular Theme Nights are also returning to O'Brien Field in 2010 including: Irish Night, Bark in Park, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Christmas in June, D.A.R.E. Day, Super Splash Day and GAMEday Education Days. Irish Night is on Saturday, May 29 and includes a Fireworks show, pre-game parade and bagpipers. Bark in the Park has moved to Tuesday, June 8 with all fans invited to bring their dogs to the game for a $2 donation to PAWS/TAPS. On Memorial Day Monday, May 31 the Chiefs will host the third annual 4 Mile Race/1 Mile Walk to benefit Operation Santa. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the game at Noon to honor the military and veterans. The 4th of July game is a Sunday night contest with a 6:00 first pitch. After the game fans are invited to stay at the stadium for a great view of the downtown Peoria Fireworks over the Illinois River. Christmas in June is Friday, June 25 with a food drive for Salvation Army. The annual D.A.R.E. Day game is Wednesday, April 21 with a 10:30 a.m. start while Super Splash Day is an 11:00 a.m. start on Monday, July 19. There will again be two GAMEday Education Day games with 11:00 a.m. starts on Thursday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 11. Various characters and friends will visit O'Brien Field throughout the season as well starting on Sunday, April 18 when Fred Flintstone and Sponge Bob Square Pants drop by for Cartoon Day. On Saturday, May 1 the 501st Star Wars Legion including 12 Storm Troopers, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and R2-D2 will be in attendance for Star Wars Night. Sunday, May 2 brings Disney Day with appearances by Cinderella, Ariel, Aladdin and Mickey Mouse. Monday, May 10 is Shrek Night with Shrek and Princess Fiona at O'Brien Field. Sunday, June 20 is SuperHero Day with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Wolverine expected at the 1:00 p.m. game. Cinderella, Princess Fiona and Ariel will return on Sunday, April 27 for Princess Day and will be joined by Belle, Snow White and Jasmine.

There are currently three special jersey auctions on the Chiefs promotional schedule. On Friday, June 18 the Chiefs will wear Pink Jerseys for Pink in the Park with all the proceeds of the auction benefiting Komen for the Cure. Chiefs' players will wear Hawaiian themed jerseys on Jimmy Buffett Night, August 7 to benefit the Pediatric Resource Center. The Chiefs will wear Red, White and Blue USA themed jerseys on both Memorial Day (May 31) and the 4th of July with the auction taking place during the July 4 game.

Other promotional schedule highlights include a Cubs/Cardinals Rivalry night t-shirt giveaway presented by Methodist on Friday, June 18 where Cubs fans will receive a blue Chiefs t-shirt and Cardinals fans a red Chiefs t-shirt. On Friday, July 16 Auto Owners Insurance presents a Chiefs t-shirt giveaway on Mardi Gras Night. The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest returns to O'Brien Field on Sunday, June 13.

While some of the weekly promotions stay the same from 2009, others have been added or modified for 2010. Mondays are Movie Madness Mondays featuring a different movie theme, actor or director each week. All Mondays are once again Half Price Mondays with all individual tickets and select group tickets half-price. Take Me Out Tuesday's feature theme's generated around bringing your kids, grandkids, friends and other loved ones to the game along with three ticket specials. KRAFT Singles Tuesday returns where fans can redeem one KRAFT Singles package wrapper for a buy one ticket/get one free from KRAFT Singles. Tuesday's are also Taco Bell Night and fans can bring a receipt of a Taco Bell value meal purchased during the week prior to the game to a box office for a free ticket with the purchase of a ticket. Tuesday's also feature a $6 ticket offer for all fans 55 and over who can also run the bases following the game.

Wacky Weiner Wednesdays are back featuring free hot dogs and peanuts through the seventh inning. The free hot dogs/peanuts nights begin on April 28 and continue for every Wednesday game played at O'Brien Field during the 2010 season. Throwback Thursdays feature themes such as 50s Night, 70s Night, 80s Night and 90s Night. FANomenal Fridays and Show Stoppin' Saturdays return with a mixture of giveaways, special guests, entertainment acts, post-game concerts and Fireworks. Family FUN in the Sundays return again as well with added power. Kids 12 and under again eat free on Sundays with one hot dog and one soda and can run the bases after the game. Chiefs players will sign autographs after every Sunday home game and all of the Sunday themes cater around the family with kids giveaways, characters or family events!

The Chiefs home opener is set for Saturday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. against the Burlington Bees.
