Game One:

Beloit, Wis. -- A fourth inning grand slam from Leandro Cedeno propelled the Chiefs to an 8-1 victory in game one of a seven-inning doubleheader on Saturday.

With the game tied 1-1 heading into the fourth, the Chiefs scored six times and sent ten men to the plate in the inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Cedeno hit a 1-1 offering out to left field to break the game open for the Chiefs. It was the second career grand slam for Cedeno, who was hitting .067 entering Saturday’s first game. The next two hitters reached base in the inning and Malcom Nunez doubled to left to bring in two more runs.

The Chiefs chipped in an insurance run in the fifth on the strength of a Francisco Hernandez double, which scored Brady Whalen, and gave the Chiefs an 8-1 advantage.

Beloit got on the board in the opening frame but were held scoreless the rest of the way.

Nick Trogrlic-Iverson picked up his first career High-A win for the Chiefs. The Canadaian right-hander went six innings, allowed one run and struck out three. In the process, Trogrlic-Iverson earned the first quality start of the season for the Chiefs.

Zach King took the loss for Beloit. He gave up seven runs over 3.2 innings of work.

Game Two:

Beloit, Wis. -- Jack Ralston threw six shutout innings but the Chiefs had to withstand a furious Beloit rally in the seventh to win 11-9 and earn a sweep of the doubleheader.

Ralston picked up his second career win and his first High-A win as a starting pitcher. Ralston went six innings, allowed two hits and struck out nine batters, which tied a season-high set by Michael YaSenka Friday.

After being held scoreless in the first three innings, the Chiefs scored 11 runs over the next four frames. With a 1-0 lead on a fielding error, Leandro Cedeno doubled home Chandler Redmond to multiply the Peoria lead. A single by Tyler Reichenborn later made it 3-0.

In the fifth, Chandler Redmond continued his hot streak with a three-run homer to center field. Redmond has driven in a run in four consecutive contests and collected four knocks in the nightcap.

The Chiefs led 7-0 going to the seventh inning, when they scored four more times. Cedeno reached on an error, one of four committed by Beloit, to make it 8-0. The next batter, Reichenborn, cranked a three-run homer to center to get the Chiefs to double digits. Reichenborn went three-for-four and drove in a trio of runs for Peoria.

Beloit did not go away in the bottom of the seventh. The Snappers scored nine times off of Evan Sisk and Enmanuel Solano. Solano kept the tying-run on deck, however, as he struck out Dustin Skelton to end the contest.

As a team, the Chiefs pounded out 28 hits between the two games and outscored Beloit 19-10. The series concludes tomorrow at 2:05 p.m.
