PEORIA, Ill. -- Four of the Chiefs seven hits left the yard Saturday night as Peoria knocked off first-place Quad Cities for third consecutive night, winning 6-4. The Chiefs secured at least a split in the series and will go for the series victory tomorrow.

For the fourth time in the series, the Chiefs scored a run in the first. With two outs in the inning, Moises Castillo doubled over the head of left fielder Eric Cole to score Pedro Pages from second. It was the 32nd RBI of the season for Castillo, which puts him ahead of Leandro Cedeno for the team lead.

The Chiefs did some more damage in the third inning and immediately took advantage of a lead-off error. After Francisco Hernandez reached on a blunder, Jhon Torres hit a two-run blast to enhance the Peoria lead to 3-0.

After four scoreless frames from Chiefs starter Wilfredo Pereira, the offense created some separation in the fifth inning. Imeldo Diaz led off the season with his first home run of the year, a line drive rocket onto the berm in left field. Then, with a 4-0 advantage in tow, Jordan Walker and Pedro Pages went back-to-back, giving Peoria a 6-0 lead. For Walker, it was his first career High-A home run, and his first at any level since June 22.

In the bottom of the fifth, Quad Cities responded by putting the first five men on base and cut the Peoria lead to 6-2. Reliever Jacob Schlesener entered with the bases loaded and nobody out and promptly retired the next three batters to escape the jam.

Quad Cities cut it to 6-3 after the sixth inning but again left the bases loaded in the seventh, as Leonardo Taveras struck out Maikel Garcia to end the threat. As a team, the River Bandits were just 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

In the ninth, Freddy Pacheco slammed the door shut and picked up his seventh save of the season, as Peoria clinched the 6-4 victory. Schlesener was credited with the win for the Chiefs, his third of the year.

The series finale is slated for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Michael YaSenka will make his second start of the series for Peoria.
