Peoria, Ill. -- The Chiefs were unable to rally from an early deficit, losing 8-4 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the River Bandits earned a split in the six-game set.

After striking out the side in the first, the River Bandits were able to get to Chiefs starter Michael YaSenka in the second inning. With two men on, Eric Cole hit a three-run blast to right field, giving Quad Cities an early 3-0 advantage.

Quad Cities scored two more runs in both the third and the fourth inning and maintained a 7-0 advantage into the bottom of the sixth inning.

After being held to just one hit through the first five innings, the Chiefs broke into the scoring column in a big way. With two men on, Leandro Cedeno homered for the second game in a row and made it a 7-3 ballgame.

An inning later, the Chiefs made it 7-4 on a bases loaded walk to Brady Whalen. Cedeno then stepped up to the plate as the go-ahead run but he was retired and it was the closest the Chiefs would get the rest of the way.

The Chiefs are off Monday. They will continue their homestand on Tuesday against Beloit. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
