Seijas Fans Seven as Chiefs Shutout for First Time in 2019

Cedeno collects Chiefs only hit

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs collected just one hit and fell 8-0 to the Quad Cities River Bandits Tuesday afternoon at Dozer Park.  The loss drops the Chiefs to 6-12 on the season as they wrap up the homestand Wednesday.

Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs collected just one hit and fell 8-0 to the Quad Cities River Bandits Tuesday afternoon at Dozer Park.  The loss drops the Chiefs to 6-12 on the season as they wrap up the homestand Wednesday.

  The River Bandits got on the board against Chiefs starter Alvaro Seijas in the top of the second. Scott Schreiber was hit by a pitch, and Jonathan Lacroix walked to put runners on first and second with one out. David Hensley singled to left field, and Schreiber scored on a fielding error by Chiefs left fielder Leandro Cedeno to put the River Bandits up 1-0.
     Quad Cities padded their lead in the top of the fourth. With one out, Lacroix and Hensley hit back-to-back solo homeruns to push the River Bandits lead to 3-0.
     The River Bandits added one more run in the top of the sixth off Chiefs reliever Evan Sisk. With two outs, Ross Adolph doubled and then scored on a double by Trey Dawson to put Quad Cities up 4-0. They added four runs in the ninth for the 8-0 win.
     Though they drew three walks, the Chiefs were held hitless through six innings by Austin Hansen and RJ Freure. Cedeno led off the seventh with a solid single to center but he was left stranded at first base. The Chiefs drew two more walks in the eighth inning against Freure but Delvin Perez and Lars Nootbaar were both stranded in scoring position. The only Chiefs player to reach base more than once in the game was Ivan Herrera as he walked twice,
     Seijas (1-2) took the loss after throwing five innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, two walks, while tallying seven strikeouts. Sisk allowed one run on two hits with one walk, and two strikeouts in his one inning. Fabian Blanco pitched one shutout inning, allowing only one hit, and notching one strikeout. Freddy Pacheco also pitched one shutout inning, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out one. Edgar Escobar pitched the ninth inning and allowed four runs on four hits with one walk.
     The Chiefs finish their three-game series against Quad Cities, Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Promotions can be found on the team website or social media accounts. The Chiefs will start RH Cole Aker (0-1, 11.42) against Quad Cities RH Nivaldo Rodriguez (1-1, 2.40).
