Davenport, IA-- Jordan Walker drove in a career-high five runs and delivered the big blow, a go-ahead, three-run blast in the top of the seventh to propel the Chiefs to a 6-4 win Tuesday over Quad Cities.

The Chiefs had to rally from an early deficit, as they fell behind 3-0 after the first two innings. Peoria made Quad Cities starter Christian Cosby work in the third inning, as they loaded the bases with one out. Walker ultimately recorded an RBI groundout, but it was all the Chiefs could muster in the third.

Two innings later, Aaron Antonini cut the deficit in half with a long home run to right field, his second in a Chiefs uniform, and the Quad Cities lead was 3-2. Antonini also played a key role in the Peoria rally, he scored three times in the comeback win.

In the middle innings, Enmanuel Solano was unhittable out of the Peoria bullpen and kept the visitors in it. Solano twirled three perfect innings and struck out four, en route to his fifth win of the season.

In the seventh, it was Masyn Winn’s hustle down the first base line that kept the inning alive for Walker’s aforementioned blast. With runners at first and second, Winn grounded one towards second. The River Bandits had a clean turn up the middle, but Winn beat out the return throw to keep the inning afloat. Then, with an 0-2 count, Walker connected for the decisive blow, a three-run homer to make it 5-3. Initially, the play was ruled a double. However, the umpires later overturned the original call, giving Walker his fourth home run of the year.

Two innings later, Winn was again in the middle of a key insurance run. After reaching on a throwing error, he swiped second. On the next pitch, he was on the move for third, when Walker tapped one up the third base line. As three River Bandits converged on the baseball, Winn rounded third and continued to a vacated home plate. Winn’s mad dash made it 6-3.

In the bottom of the ninth, Quad Cities sent the winning run to the plate in the form of Nathan Eaton. With a 2-2 count, Jack Ralston froze Eaton on a curveball to seal the win and collect the save. With the victory, the Chiefs have now won four of their last five at Quad Cities.

The series continues tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Connor Lunn, the league’s leader in innings pitched, will take the ball for the Chiefs.
