PEORIA, Ill. -- The bats were hot once again for the Peoria Chiefs as they pounded out 11 hits en route to a 6-2 win over the Beloit Snappers.

Peoria was anchored on the mound by Mac Lardner. In four innings of scoreless baseball, he struck out eight batters in his first start since July 1. Jacob Schlesner, Kevin Marnon, and Leonardo Taveras combined for the remaining five innings, giving up only two runs in relief.

The Chiefs would break through in the bottom of the third inning by putting up four runs on five hits on the board. After a lead-off walk from Francisco Hernandez, Matt Chamberlain would blast a two-run homer to give Peoria a 2-0 advantage. Masyn Winn followed with his first home run in a Chiefs uniform in the following at-bat. Jordan Walker tallied the Chiefs third consecutive hit and would be driven in by a RBI single from Pedro Pages.

Beloit would put their first run on the board off a single to right field in the top of the sixth inning. But the Peoria offense would answer quickly with two runs in the bottom half of the inning off of two RBI triples from Francisco Hernandez and Masyn Winn to extend the lead to 6-1. A homer in the top of the seventh inning would cut the lead to 6-2. Peoria’s bullpen would retire seven out of the next eight batters en route to their second straight victory.

The two teams will continue the series tomorrow night at Dozer Park. Connor Lunn is scheduled to take the bump for Peoria, facing off against Antonio Velez. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
