Selected in the 5th round (No. 149 overall) of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks out of Division II Bellarmine University in Bellarmine, Kentucky... signed with Arizona on June 30, 2020 and received a $100,000 signing bonus, which was below the $360K slot value... became the second-highest player selected in Bellarmine history... was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 240 prospect in the 2020 Draft class... spent the 2019 summer pitching in the Cape Cod League... also saw time in the Northwoods League... became the first Minor League pitcher to strike out more than 200 batters since 2011 when he fanned 218 batters over Double-A and Triple-A in 2022... his 167 frames also led the Minors in 2022... entered the 2023 season ranked as the D-backs' No. 1 pitching prospect and No. 3 overall prospect according to MLB.com... ranked as the No. 51 overall prospect in baseball in May 2023 by MLB.com... was promoted for his MLB debut on May 3, 2023

2023

Began the season at Triple-A Reno, where he owned a 3.91 ERA, 30 strikeouts and six walks in five starts before the D-backs announced plans to promote him for his Major League debut on May 3... as of May 2, Pfaadt’s 28.6 percent K-rate led pitchers in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, while his 1.18 WHIP placed second and his 14.4 percent swinging-strike rate placed third among qualifiers in the circuit.

2022

Led all Minor Leaguers with 218 strikeouts over 167 innings between Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno.., in doing so, Pfaadt fanned the most Minor League batters over a single season since 2001 (Brandon Claussen, 220).
