Chihuahuas Unveil Stars & Stripes Jersey and Cap as Part of GECU Independence Day Celebration

EL PASO – June 29, 2022 – In celebration of America’s birthday, the Chihuahuas announce the unveiling of the Stars and Stripes jersey and matching Stars and Stripes cap. The jersey and cap will be worn by the Chihuahuas during the July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd GECU Independence Day Celebration games when, they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliate, Oklahoma City.

The jerseys will accompany three nights of postgame Fireworks Spectacular, choreographed to patriotic music.

Made by OT Sports, the jerseys showcase the patriotic red, white & blue colors. The bodice and sleeves are blue, with a white stripe across the chest and the Chihuahuas red wordmark overlayed in the white. Each player’s number is on the left side on the front of the jersey and on the back.

The Chihuahuas will auction the game-worn Stars and Stripes jerseys starting at 12 p.m. MDT on Thursday, June 30. The auction will conclude on the final out of the game on July 3rd. Proceeds from the auction will benefit El Paso area non-profit organizations. Fans can view the jerseys up for auction and participate by texting “BID” to (844) 311-5007.

The New Era 59FIFTY fitted Stars and Stripes cap, which made its initial debut in 2008, can be seen across Minor and Major League Baseball during the Independence Day weekend around the country.

The caps will be made available in the Chihuahuas Team Shop at gates open (5:30 p.m.) on Friday, July 1. Fans must have a ticket to Friday’s game to be eligible to purchase the cap. Sales will be made available to the public beginning Saturday morning during regular team shop hours. The Chihuahuas Team Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Chihuahuas are giving fans the opportunity to win BIG with a three-day Mega Rollover Jackpot as part of the GECU Independence Day Celebration. The winner will receive 50% of the combined 50/50 Jackpot, presented by Texas Gas Service, from July 1-3. The winning number will be drawn on the final out of the eighth inning on July 3.

As part of the promotion, fans can purchase 76 tickets for $20 and 246 tickets for $50 in honor of the year of independence and the number of years of independence, respectively. This promotion is in stadium only, earnings are after taxes, and fans who purchase need not be present to win. Winning numbers are posted on epchihuahuas.com.

Retail Highlight: Stars & Stripes Cap
As part of Major & Minor League Baseball, the Chihuahuas will honor America by wearing the specially designed Stars & Stripes cap from New Era. The specialty cap can be seen across minor and major league teams around the country. The caps will only be sold in the Chihuahuas Team Shop. They will not be available online. Fans who attend the game on Friday, will have the first opportunity to purchase the cap. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
