Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Aaron Whitefield has been activated from the 7-day DL and OF Hank Morrison has been released from the Kernels roster. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Whitefield went on the DL back on August 5th with right shoulder bursitis. In 95 games for the Kernels, he's batting .271 with 10 HR, 42 RBI and 27 stolen bases in 34 attempts. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2015.
Morrison played in 53 games for the Kernels, batting .217 (40-184) with 4 HR and 10 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 22nd round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Mercyhurst College.

Whitefield is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game with Quad Cities. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL and one player currently on the military leave list.
The Kernels continue a four-game home stand tonight at 6:35 PM against the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Midwest League affiliate of the Houston Astros. The upcoming home stand continues through Sunday, August 13th.
