PEARL, Miss. (April 18, 2017) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired right-handed pitcher Parker Bridwell in a trade Monday with the Baltimore Orioles for cash considerations or a player to be named later. Following the trade, Bridwell was added to the Angels 40-man roster and optioned to the Mobile BayBears.
Bridwell will be the third pitcher with Major League experience to take the mound for the BayBears this season. The 25-year-old made his MLB debut with the Orioles last year on August 21 and appeared in two games for Baltimore.
In his Minor League career, spanning parts of eight seasons, Bridwell has a 31-43 record with a 4.79 ERA in 143 games, 117 starts. He pitched in two games for Triple-A Norfolk this year and was on Baltimore's 40-man roster before being designated for assignment Friday.
The Hereford, Texas, native was selected by the Orioles in the ninth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Prior to the trade, Bridwell was ranked the No. 15 prospect in Baltimore's farm system, according to MLB Pipeline. He slots in at No. 12 in the Angels organization in the updated rankings.
The BayBears continue a five-game road series Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Trustmark Park against the Mississippi Braves. Live coverage can be heard on the BayBears Broadcast Network, the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App, with the Countdown to First Pitch starting at 6:40 p.m.
