Ariel Montesino joins Kernels from Elizabethton

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Ariel Montesino will join the Kernels from Elizabethton and INF Jordan Gore has been promoted to Chattanooga. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins signed Montesino as a non-drafted free agent on May 8, 2013. He split time last season between the Kernels, Elizabethton and Fort Myers and in 45 games for the Kernels, he hit .185 (28-151) with seven doubles and 5 RBI. In nine games at Elizabethton this year, he's batting .333 (11-33) with three doubles and 5 RBI.
Gore played in 63 games for the Kernels, batting .307 with 2 HR and 22 RBI. He was a member of the Kernels 2018 Opening Day Roster and was selected by the Kernels in the 19th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Costal Carolina.
Montesino is active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM at Kane County. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the DL.

The Kernels continue a four-game road trip at Kane County tonight at 6:30 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, July 11 to host Fort Wayne and Lake County.
