MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs are proud to announce that Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp outfielder Austin Dean has been named the Southern League Player of the Month for April.
Dean, 24, appeared in 22 games for Jacksonville and was promoted to the Triple-A New Orleans Baby Cakes on April 29, nearly one week following his recognition as Southern League Player of the Week.

Despite missing the final two games of the month, Dean remains the Southern League leader in a number of categories including batting average (.420), slugging percentage (.654), OPS (1.120), hits (34), and total bases (53). He is also among the league leaders in on-base percentage (.466, 3rd) and extra-base hits (12, T-3rd), while boasting the second lowest strikeout rate (12.57) among qualified hitters.

Dean started his 2018 campaign with an 11-game hit streak (4/5-4/18) during which he hit an astounding .550 (22-for-40) with six runs, six doubles, and seven RBIs. He parlayed that run into an 18-game on-base streak - tied for the second longest in the Southern League this year - which lasted until April 24.
