Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Evan Sanders has been activated from the 7-day DL and RHP Tyler Beardsley has been placed on the 7-day DL with a left hamstring strain. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Sanders went on the DL back on August 21st with a left groin strain. He has made 12 appearances (5 starts) for the Kernels this season, posting a 2-4 record and 6.40 ERA. In 32.1 IP, he allowed 31 hits and 24 runs (23 earned) with 27 walks and 28 strikeouts. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on March 3, 2017 out of the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.
Beardsley was a member of the Kernels 2017 Opening Day Roster and this will be his second stint on the DL this season (May 24). He has made 15 appearances (14 starts) for the Kernels this season, posting a 4-8 record and 5.67 ERA. In 79.1 IP, he allowed 95 hits and 52 runs (50 earned) with 18 walks and 40 strikeouts. He was selected by the Twins in the 16th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Sacramento State.
Sanders is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game against Quad Cities. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with seven players currently on the DL and one player currently on the military leave list.

The Kernels wrap up a seven-game road trip tonight at 6:35 PM at Quad Cities. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, August 30th vs. Burlington that continues through Friday, September 1st.
