Former Bird Norwood debuts in San Francisco for Cubs

Norwood, a New York, N.Y., native, pitched 1.2 innings in extras, taking the loss while striking out two batters.
Originally drafted by the Cubs in the seventh round of the 2014 draft out of Saint Louis University, Norwood was 1-2 with a 29 appearances in 2018 between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa.
With the Pelicans in 2016, the righty went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and threw in two postseason games as the Birds won their second straight Mills Cup Championship.
In 2017, Norwood was a dominate force in the bullpen for Myrtle Beach, owning a 2.31 ERA in 27 games before his promotion to Tennesse on July 27.
During his minor league career, which has spanned five seasons, he has only ceded nine home runs in 201.2 innings while whiffing 206 and walking 76.
