Four Lugnuts receive promotions

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts announced Saturday that outfielder Jake Thomas has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire, and that infielder Bradley Jones and pitchers Zach Jackson and Jackson McClelland have been promoted to A-Advanced Dunedin.In corresponding moves, the Lugnuts have received outfielder Rodrigo Orozco from Extended Spring Training and pitcher Connor Eller and utilityman Nash Knight from Dunedin. LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts announced Saturday that outfielder Jake Thomas has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire, and that infielder Bradley Jones and pitchers Zach Jackson and Jackson McClelland have been promoted to A-Advanced Dunedin.

In corresponding moves, the Lugnuts have received outfielder Rodrigo Orozco from Extended Spring Training and pitcher Connor Eller and utilityman Nash Knight from Dunedin. In addition, the Lugnuts activated pitcher Osman Gutierrez from the Disabled List and will start him tonight in West Michigan.

All four Lugnuts promoted had the case to be named to the Midwest League Eastern Division All-Star Team:
* Thomas, 23, ranked atop the Midwest League with a .457 on-base percentage, hitting .275 and drawing 40 walks in 37 games.
* Jones, 21, was 2nd in the MWL in runs batted in (39) and slugging percentage (.560), 3rd in total bases (103) and 4th in batting average (.326)
* Jackson, 22, was 1-0 with a 3.15 ERA and an opponent batting average of .181, recently enjoying a stretch of 10 consecutive scoreless appearances from April 23 to May 29.
* McClelland, 22, was 1-2 with a 1.80 ERA, rating 2nd in the league in games finished (14) and 4th in saves (8).

Lansing (29-23) plays at 7:00 p.m. tonight at West Michigan (37-17), the second game of a three-game series. The Lugnuts return home for a three-game series against the Dayton Dragons from June 6-8.
