MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs are proud to announce that Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp infielder Isan Díaz has been named Player of the Week and Birmingham Barons starter Jimmy Lambert has been named Pitcher of the Week. Both awards recognize these players' performances for games during the week of July 9-15.

Diaz, 22, earns Player of the Week honors after appearing in six strong games for the Jumbo Shrimp. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native led the Southern League with a 1.091 slugging percentage and a stout 1.611 OPS while also tying for the league lead in both home runs (4) and RBI (12). Additionally, Diaz ranked among the league leaders in a number of offensive categories this past week including batting average (.455, 3rd), on-base percentage (.520, T-3rd), runs (7, T-2nd), hits (10, T-4th), and total bases (24, T-2nd).

The Miami Marlins no. 7 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Diaz was previously named Southern League Player of the Week on June 11. He is the first player this year to secure multiple Weekly Awards.

Lambert, 23, is recognized as the Pitcher of the Week following a pair of high quality starts for the Barons. This past Monday, Lambert spun seven strong innings against the Mississippi Braves; surrendering just one run on seven hits while allowing no walks and registering nine strikeouts.

On Saturday, the Arcadia, California native posted seven shutout frames against the Tennessee Smokies, starting a combined one-hitter for Birmingham while recording 10 strikeouts against just two walks.
Overall, Lambert led all Southern League hurlers in both strikeouts (19) and innings pitched (14.0) this past week. Both his 0.64 ERA (1 ER/14.0 IP) and 0.71 WHIP were the lowest among pitchers with more than one start. Lambert is the Chicago White Sox no. 28 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
