Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Jacob Pearson has joined the Kernels roster from Elizabethton and OF Akil Baddoo has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to May 21, with right hamstring spasms. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins acquired Pearson in a trade with the Angels on December 6, 2017 and he was originally drafted by the Angels in the 3rd round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of West Monroe (LA) HS. He played 40 games with the AZL Angels in 2017, batting .226 with seven doubles, a triple and 13 RBI.
Baddoo has played 35 games for the Kernels this season, batting .227 with 2 HR and 10 RBI. He also has drawn 34 walks and has 11 stolen bases in 14 attempts. He was selected by the Twins in lottery round B (74th overall) in the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Salem (GA) HS.

Pearson is active and available for today's 11:00 AM game at Kane County. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the DL, one player on the suspended list and one player on the military leave list.
The Kernels continue a seven game road trip today at Kane County with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 AM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, May 25th to open a seven day, nine-game homestand that continues through Thursday, May 31st.
