JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 29, 2017) - Right-handed pitcher Jaime Barria of the Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, has been selected to participate in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. The event will take place on Sunday, July 9, at Marlins Park in Miami at 3 p.m. CT.
Barria, 20, has allowed just four runs (two earned) over 19 2/3 innings, with 16 strikeouts and just three walks in his three starts with the BayBears. Last Friday against Tennessee, he threw the first complete game of his career, shutting out the Smokies in a seven-inning gem. Barria gave up just two hits and finished the game by recording 17 straight outs.
The Panama City, Panama native was signed by the Angels as an international free agent on April 11, 2013. He made 11 starts with Inland Empire and went 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA (18 earned runs in 65.1 innings pitched). Barria struck out 57 batters and only issued 13 walks. He was named Pitcher of the Week in the California League following his start on May 19 against Lancaster. Barria tossed seven scoreless innings and only allowed two hits.
In his Minor League career, spanning parts of five seasons, Barria has a 22-19 record with a 3.41 ERA in 74 games, 61 starts. He spent the entire 2016 campaign in the starting rotation for Class A Burlington, leading the team with eight wins in a career-high 25 games. Barria recorded a 3.85 ERA, set career highs in innings pitched (117.0) and strikeouts (78), and was a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star.
Barria is currently the Angels No. 4 pitching prospect, and he is ranked No. 8 overall in the organization, according to MLB Pipeline.

Barria is scheduled to make his fourth Double-A start tonight at 6:05 p.m. CT, as the BayBears continue a six-game road series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
