Johan Quezada joins Kernels from Elizabethton

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Johan Quezada has joined the Kernels from Elizabethton. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins signed Quezada as a non-drafted free agent in September of 2012. He did not pitch in 2017 due to injury, but had made 12 relief appearances this season at Elizabethton, posting a 2-2 record, 2.35 ERA and two saves. In 23 IP, he allowed 18 hits and eight runs (six earned) with 12 walks and 21 strikeouts.
Quezada is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM at Wisconsin. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the DL.

The Kernels begin a six-game road trip tonight with games at Wisconsin and Beloit. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 24th to host Kane County at 6:35 PM.
