Kernels and Twins announce a series of roster moves

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Melvi Acosta and RHP Brusdar Graterol will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training. Additionally, the following players have been placed on the 7-day DL: RHP Nick Brown with a right calf strain; RHP Jared Finkel with a right groin strain. Jeremy Zoll, Twins Director of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins signed Acosta as a non-drafted free agent on September 29, 2015. He spent last season at Elizabethton where he posted a 5-3 record and 6.22 ERA with one save in 11 appearances (nine starts). In 50.2 IP, he allowed 62 hits and 43 runs (35 earned) with 20 walks and 33 strikeouts.
The Twins signed Graterol as a non-drafted free agent on August 29, 2014. He split time last season between the GCL Twins and Elizabethton, posting a combined 4-1 record and 2.70 ERA in 10 appearances (seven starts). In 40 IP, he allowed 26 hits and 12 runs (all earned) with 13 walks and 45 strikeouts.
Brown has made three appearances (two starts) for the Kernels this year, posting an 0-0 record and 5.02 ERA. In 14.1 IP, he allowed 17 hits and eight runs with six walks and 12 strikeouts.
Finkel has made five relief appearances for the Kernels, posting a 1-0 record, 1.80 ERA and one save. In 10 IP, he allowed 12 hits and three runs (two earned) with five walks and three strikeouts.

Acosta and Graterol are active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM game at Quad Cities. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL, one player on the suspended list and one player on the military leave list.
The Kernels begin a four-game, three-day road trip at Quad Cities tonight at 6:30 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 1st to open a six-game home stand against South Bend and West Michigan.
