Michael Hermosillo promoted to Triple-A Salt Lake

MOBILE, Ala. (August 3, 2017) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced Thursday that outfielder Michael Hermosillo has been promoted from the Double-A Mobile BayBears to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Hermosillo, 22, joined the BayBears on April 24 from Class A Advanced Inland Empire. He had a .248 average with four home runs and 26 RBI. Hermosillo led the BayBears with 21 stolen bases and 40 runs scored. He put together the longest hitting streak for a Mobile player this year, collecting a hit in 11 consecutive games from July 1 through July 12. During that stretch, Hermosillo hit a walk-off three-run homer against Mississippi on July 6.
In 13 games with Inland Empire in April to begin the 2017 season, Hermosillo posted a .321 average (17-for-53) with a pair of RBI. He also stole five bases, including a career-high three April 15 at Visalia. Last season, Hermosillo combined to hit .317 between Inland Empire and Class A Burlington, and he set career-highs with six home runs and 39 RBI.
The Mesa, Ariz., native was selected by the Angels in the 28th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Ottawa Township (Ill.) High School. Hermosillo received an invitation to Major League Spring Training this year, where he batted .333 (5-for-15) with one home run and four RBI in 15 games.
This is the first time Hermosillo has been promoted to Triple-A in his career. He is currently the No. 13 prospect in the Angels organization, according to MLB Pipeline.
In a corresponding move, outfielder Brennon Lund has been added to the BayBears roster from Inland Empire.
In 91 games combined between Burlington and Inland Empire this season, Lund, 22, had a .316 average with five home runs, 41 RBI, 19 stolen bases, and 51 runs scored. The Salt Lake City native was selected by the Angels in the 11th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Brigham Young University. Lund is currently the No. 19 prospect in the organization, according to MLB Pipeline.
The BayBears are currently tied for first place in the Southern League South division and wrap up a six-game home series against the Mississippi Braves Thursday at 6:35 p.m. CT.
