Cedar Rapids, IA - The Midwest League and MiLB.com announced Monday that Kernels third baseman Travis Blankenhorn has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the period ending June 18th.
In seven games last week for the Kernels, Blankenhorn hit .407 (11-27) with a double, three triples, a home run and six RBI. He also scored six runs, drew five walks and had a stolen base. The Twins selected him in the third round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Pottsville Area HS in Pennsylvania.
Beloit pitcher Zack Erwin was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the same period.

Blankenhorn is the third Kernel this season to receive Midwest League weekly honors, joining Lewin Diaz (May 7th) and Jermaine Palacios (April 23rd).
The Kernels begin the second half of the Midwest League season on the road tonight at Quad Cities with first pitch set for 6:35 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, June 26th and open a four game home series against the Burlington Bees.
