Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Travis Blankenhorn has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to August 10th, with a lower back strain. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
Blankenhorn was on the Kernels 2017 Opening Day roster and in 104 games for the Kernels this season, he is batting .234 with 8 HR, 52 RBI, 19 doubles and 10 triples. He was selected by the Twins in the third round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Pottsville Area (PA) HS. A corresponding move has not been announced by the Twins.
With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the Midwest League maximum of 25, with six players currently on the DL and one player currently on the military leave list.

The Kernels continue a four-game home stand tonight at 6:35 PM against the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Midwest League affiliate of the Houston Astros. The upcoming home stand continues through Sunday, August 13th.
