Zombro Named BC® Reliever of the Month

Zombro, 24, earns the award after recording seven scoreless appearances for the Montgomery Biscuits last month. In total the Harrisonburg, Virginia native posted a 1-0 record alongside a pair of saves, allowing just five hits and no walks while adding eight strikeouts in 12.2 innings of work. Both his ERA (0.00) and WHIP (0.39) were the lowest among all Southern League pitchers who had more than 10.0 IP during the month of June.
Across 23 games (three starts) this year with Montgomery, Zombro has combined to post a 2-0 record and a 1.80 ERA (8 ER/40.0 IP) while allowing only three walks and registering 34 strikeouts. In addition to helping the Biscuits secure the first-half North Division title, Zombro made his Triple-A debut on June 9 by wrapping up a 10-2 victory for the Durham Bulls.
The Tampa Bay Rays signed Zombro as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. He spent the entire 2018 season with the Midwest League champion Bowling Green Hot Rods, where he tied for the team lead in saves. The George Mason University product has a 10-2 career record in the minor leagues with a 2.77 career ERA (45 ER/146.0 IP), 13 saves, and 72 total appearances.
