*Davenport, Iowa *– The Quad Cities River Bandits split a doubleheader with the Cedar Rapids on Thursday at Modern Woodmen Park, winning game one 3-0 and falling in game two, in which the River Bandits played as the visiting team, 4-2.

Quad Cities was led by its pitching staff in the first contest, with starter William Fleming (2-2) blanking the Kernels through 5.1 innings before Anderson Paulino (5) picked up a five-out save with five strikeouts for his fifth of the season.

At the plate, Javier finished a double shy of the cycle and single-handedly gave the Bandits a 2-0 lead with a solo home run in the first and an RBI single in the third. Vaz and Cayden Wallace would give the Bandits their third run of the game with back-to-back triples in the fifth, as Wallace drove in Vaz for his league-leading 26th run of the year.

In game two, the Kernels struck for all their runs against Quad Cities’ starter Eric Cerantola, who allowed four earned in 2.1 innings, including three walks and three hit batsmen.

While Luis Barroso and Parker Harm combined for 3.2 innings scoreless out of the bullpen in relief, the Bandits mustered just a pair of runs on a Paxton Wallace double—his first RBI knock of the season—and an RBI groundout from Kale Emshoff.

Gianluca Dalatri (1-0) earned the win for the Kernels in game two, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings in his Twins organization debut.

The River Bandits will look to retake the lead in the seven-game series tomorrow night at Modern Woodmen Park, as reigning Midwest League Pitcher of the Week, Chandler Champlain (2-2, 3.38) will get the start against Cedar Rapids’ Marco Raya (0-0, 5.19). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm.
