Davenport, Iowa – The Quad Cities River Bandits matched their longest win streak in their history as a Kansas City Royals affiliate, topping the Beloit Sky Carp 5-2 on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park for their seventh consecutive victory.

Although Beloit threatened with five base runners in the first three innings against Quad Cities’ starter Luinder Avila, the River Bandits were first into the run column, with Carter Jensen sparking a two-run second inning with a solo home run off of Jared Poland for his fourth of the season. Three batters later, Kale Emshoff plated Juan Carlos Negret with a two-out double to make it 2-0 Quad Cities.

Working with the lead, Avila did not allow the Sky Carp on the board until one out in the fifth, when Angeudis Santos homered to left, cutting the QC lead in half. But the right-hander would strand the tying run on base later in the frame to complete his 5.0-inning, four-strikeout start in line for the win.

While Beloit would eventually tie the game 2-2 one inning later against Brandon Johnson, plating a run on an error, Cayden Wallace would snap a string of 12-straight retired by Poland and homer to left field for a 3-2 Bandits’ lead.

In the seventh, Quad Cities further insured the advantage via Paxton Wallace, who plated a pair of runs with a two-out, double against Matt Givin.

After Johnson tossed a clean seventh, Wander Arias took over for the Bandits in the final two frames and stranded a pair of base runners in a six-out save.

Johnson (3-2) earned the win for Quad Cities, allowing one unearned run in 2.0 relief innings with a trio of strikeouts, while Poland (1-2) took the loss despite a 6.0-inning quality start.

The River Bandits will look to continue their run on Wednesday, as Mason Barnett (1-1, 3.45) gets the ball against Beloit’s Gabe Bierman (2-2, 3.21). First Pitch at Modern Woodmen Park is set for 6:30pm.
