Davenport, Iowa – The Quad Cities River Bandits took a 4-2 lead into the seventh on Tuesday, but allowed eight runs over the final three innings to drop their series opener against the Beloit Sky Carp 10-4 at Modern Woodmen Park.

Both teams leaned on the long-ball, with River Town and Kale Emshoff leaving the yard on solo shots for Quad Cities, but the Bandits’ arms would allow a season-high four homers to the Sky Carp, including two in the seventh to fall behind 5-4.

Beloit than began the eighth with six-straight hits off Anthony Simonelli, forcing the right-hander from the game before he could record an out and taking a six-run lead in the process.

The loss overshadowed the start of Frank Mozzicato, who departed in line for his first River Bandits win, allowing just one run over 5.0 innings, with eight strikeouts—his most in a game at the High-A level.

Parker Harm also posted a zero on the hill for Quad Cities, tossing a pair of scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Yeuris Jimenez (2-2) earned the win for Beloit out of the bullpen, tossing a scoreless seventh inning, while Wander Arias (3-4) took the loss for the Bandits and was charged for his fifth blown save of the year after allowing four runs on three homers over 2.0 innings of relief.

Quad Cities will send southpaw Rylan Kaufman (0-0, 3.12) to the hill against Sky Carp right-hander Josh White (0-6, 5.25) for game two of the six game set. First pitch at Modern Woodmen Park is set for 6:30 p.m.
