Davenport, Iowa – For the second-straight night, the Quad Cities River Bandits overcame a mid-inning deficit to beat the Beloit Sky Carp, evening the series at two wins apiece with a 6-5 win on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park.

With Shervyen Newton giving Quad Cities an initial 1-0 lead with a second-inning RBI triple, River Bandits’ starter Ben Kudrna kept the Sky Carp off the board though three innings, before they rallied for a four-run fourth, including the third home run of the week for Jake Thompson.

Quad Cities quickly responded in the fifth, retaking the lead 4-3 against Cade Gibson with a three-run frame of its own, riding an RBI single off the bat of Justin Johnson and a two-run double courtesy of Dustin Dickerson.

Kudrna would return to the hill in the sixth, but just to face Thompson, whom he whiffed for his seventh strikeout in a 5.1-inning start.

Parker Harm completed the sixth and tossed a scoreless seventh out of the Bandits’ bullpen, but the Sky Carp tied the game against him with a Chase Luttrell sacrifice-fly in the eighth.

However, the 4-4 tie would not last long, as River Town launched a two-run shot off Cristian Charle to push Quad Cities out to a two-run lead in the home half.

Wander Arias got the ball in the ninth and despite allowing an RBI single to Joe Mack, struck out Yiddi Cappe and Thompson with the tying and go-ahead runs on base to nail down Quad Cities’ victory and his eighth save of the year.

Harm (3-2) earned the win out of the bullpen for the Bandits, allowing just one run in 2.2 innings of relief, while Charle (1-3) got tagged with the loss for the Sky Carp, allowing three hits, including the Town homer, in 1.0 frame.

Quad Cities will look to guarantee a split of the six-game set on Saturday night, as Steven Zobac (1-2, 3.32) takes the ball against Beloit’s Carson Milbrandt (0-2, 6.39). First pitch at Modern Woodmen Park is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
