Davenport, Iowa – The Quad Cities River Bandits snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday night, riding a pair of home runs by Luca Tresh to an 9-6 win against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Modern Woodmen Park.

As they did on Wednesday, Quad Cities fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, with Joe Gray Jr. taking Adrian Alcantara deep on the first pitch of the game before giving up a second solo shot to Zavier Warren three batters later. However, the Bandits’ offense responded in their half of the frame, tying it up with a run on an error and an RBI single for River Town, his first at the High-A level.

Justin Jarvis left the game after just 0.2 innings in his start for Wisconsin, having given up two unearned runs before handing the ball to Joey Matulovich. The right-hander would also struggle though, giving up a rally-capping three-run blast to Tresh in the second that gave the Bandits their first lead of the series.

In the third, a second three-run bomb made it a 8-1 Q.C. lead, as Tyler Tolbert left the yard with an opposite-field smash for his fourth of the season.

After keeping the Timber Rattlers off the board for three-straight frames, Alcantara gave up an RBI double to Warren and a two-run single to Alex Hall to trim the Bandits’ lead to one in the fifth, but the right-hander finished off a 5.0-inning start to stay in line for the win.

In the bottom of the fifth, Tresh helped get a run back for Quad Cities with a solo shot against Wisconsin’s Brady Schanuel, the only run the reliever would allow in 3.1 innings.

After Caden Monke tossed a scoreless sixth for the Bandits, Delvin Capellon surrendered a Rattlers’ run on Antonio Pinero’s RBI single, but the right-hander completed a 2.0-inning relief effort with a one-two-three eighth.

In the final frame, Brooks Conrad turned to Kasey Kalich, who stranded a leadoff walk and struck out a pair for his eighth save of the season.

Despite allowing five runs, all earned, Alcantara (5-5) got the win for Quad Cities, and mixed in six strikeouts, while Matulovich (4-1) took his first loss of the year, giving up six runs over 2.0 innings.

The River Bandits will look to tie the six-game set at two wins apiece on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park, as they’ll start William Fleming (0-2, 6.38) against Wisconsin’s Carlos F. Rodriguez (0-0, 0.00), who makes his Midwest League debut.
