Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes held off an attempted comeback by the Giants on Friday night as Rylan Bannon's four-hit game led Rancho's offensive charge in a 5-4 victory over San Jose.
Rancho evened the series at a game apiece and found the scoreboard early on as Cody Thomas channeled the power for the second consecutive night.
In the first inning against San Jose starter Mac Marshall, Bannon reached on a walk and Thomas followed with a two-run homer to center, his second on the series and fifth of the season.
The Giants quickly evened the game in the second, scoring a pair of runs against Dustin May before the Quakes jumped back on top in the third.
Bannon doubled home Jeren Kendall on his first of four hits and Omar Estevez scored Bannon on a single to retake a 4-2 advantage.
An RBI single from Bannon in the fifth proved to be the game-winning hit as Heath Quinn smashed a two-run homer in the sixth for the Giants, cutting the game to 5-4.
Out of the bullpen Marshall Kasowski pitched a scoreless two innings despite allowing the tying run to reach in the ninth. Johneshwy Fargas entered as a pinch runner and proceeded to get caught in a run down, as third baseman Cristian Santana laid down the game-ending tag.
Kasowski recorded his third save of the season while the Quakes held on to the one-run lead to give May (3-3) the victory.
Marshall (0-1) was tacked with the loss for the Giants after allowing four earned runs over two innings of work in the start.  
The Quakes continue the four-game series against the Giants on Saturday night with RHP Parker Curry (4-1) scheduled to make his third start of the season. Curry will be opposed by RHP Raffi Vizcaino (4-4) of San Jose.
