SALEM, VA (May 18, 2018) - The Salem Red Sox will not play their game Friday against the Wilmington Blue Rocks, as persistent rain and inclement weather made play impossible at Haley Toyota Field. The teams will make up the game on Sunday with a doubleheader of two seven-inning games. The twinbill will start at 2:05 as scheduled. The Sox have now been rained out in four consecutive days, one shy of the franchise record of five set from April 27 to May 1 of 1980.
The Sox and Blue Rocks will play the first game of their series Saturday night. Righty Jake Thompson will make the start for Salem against Blue Rocks righty Gerson Garabito. First pitch from Haley Toyota Field is at67:05 p.m., and the pregame show with Ben Gellman and Suzie Cool begins at 5:45 p.m. on the Red Sox broadcast network.
