SALEM, VA (Sunday, April 8) - The Salem Red Sox took a bit of revenge in the nightcap of their doubleheader on Sunday, scoring a 2-1 win in eight innings over the Buies Creek Astros at Haley Toyota Field in Salem.
The Sox (3-1) bounced back after dropping the first game of the twinbill 1-0 in eight innings. Buies Creek (1-3) only mustered two hits in the loss, and struck out in five of their last eight plate appearances. Salem earned the series win over Buies Creek in the first series of the 2018 season.

The Astros were unable to score in the top of the eighth, and Salem began the bottom of the frame with Netzer on second. Dalbec lifted a fly to deep right for the first out, but Netzer was able to move up to third base. Scott then hit a bouncer to the right side for a single, and Netzer raced home with the winning run.
Requena took a no-decison, allowing one run (unearned) on one hit and one walk in four innings while whiffing two.
