SOUTH BEND, IN - The Midwest League has announced South Bend Cubs right-handed pitcher Derek Casey as the League Pitcher of the Week for May 6-12 after the second no-hitter in South Bend Cubs history last Monday.

Casey got the no-no started for South Bend by going seven perfect innings against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on May 6. The former Virginia Cavalier also struck out a career-high six batters in part of the combined no-hitter. Peyton Remy finished off the final two innings that night.
Casey, the South Bend Cubs Opening Day starter, has not allowed a run over his past two starts. In those 11 combined innings, he has allowed just three hits along with 11 strikeouts. Casey will look to continue the hot stretch tonight in Bowling Green as he takes the hill at 7:35 p.m.
After the three-game road trip at Bowling Green, the Cubs will return home on Thursday to take on the Dayton Dragons for the first of a four-game series. For tickets, visit the South Bend Cubs box office, call (574) 235-9988, or go to SouthBendCubs.com.
