Ian Happ Joins South Bend Cubs

Happ Is Second Cubs 2015 Draft Pick To Join South Bend

Comstock Park, MI - Chicago Cubs 2015 first round draft pick Ian Happ has been promoted to the South Bend Cubs from Eugene while starting pitcher Jake Stinnett has been placed on the disabled list.

Happ, the ninth overall selection in this summer's first year player draft, hit .283 in 29 games in the Northwest League with four home runs and eleven driven in. The outfielder also posted a .408 on base percentage.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native played three seasons at the University of Cincinnati hitting .322 as a freshmen and sophomore followed by a .369 average this spring as a junior.   Happ in 2015 with the Bearcats also slugged fourteen home runs and drove in 44.

Happ joins tenth round selection Vimael Machin as 2015 Chicago Cubs draft picks currently on the South Bend Cubs roster.

Stinnett has started sixteen games for South Bend with a record of 4-4 and a 4.92 earned run average.   The 23 year-old has allowed 86 hits and 43 earned runs while striking out 56 in 78 and two-thirds innings.

The right-handed pitcher was a Chicago Cubs second round pick in the 2015 Draft.
