Indians Cruise Behind Hughes in 11-6 Triumph

Spokane, Wash. - Gabriel Hughes tossed five solid frames and was backed by another strong night from Spokane's offense as the Indians thumped the Canadians, 11-6, in front of 2,968 fans at Avista Stadium for Smokey Bear Night presented by Sierra Nevada.

TOP PEFORMERS

Hughes rebounded from a rough outing in Everett last week with one of his best starts of the year. The right-hander allowed just one earned run on two hits while striking out eight over five innings to notch his third win.

He's a Yanquiel Doodle Dandy! Right fielder Yanquiel Fernandez finished 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in the win. The 20-year-old from Havana, Cuba, is making a strong case for Player of the Month with a .400/.406/.779 slash line in May.

Adael Amador collected three hits and has now reached base nine times over the last three games to boost his OPS to a season-high .880.

Juan Guerrero notched three RBI while Ben Sems and Jordan Beck each added a pair in the win.
