Spokane, WASH. - Pinch-hitter Colin Simpson continued his flair for the dramatic with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Indians defeated the Emeralds, 1-0, in front of 1,984 fans at Avista Stadium for the Businessperson's Special Day Game presented by the Journal of Business & KXLY AM 920/100.7 FM.

TOP PERFORMERS

Starting pitcher Mike Ruff was nearly untouchable over six sterling innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out five. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA (19 IP/1 ER) in three starts at Avista Stadium this season.

Four relievers - Anderson Pilar, Adam McKillican, Shelby Lackey, and Luke Taggart - combined to keep the Emeralds off the scoreboard over the game's final four frames.

TURNING POINT

Eugene had runners at first and second with no outs in the 10th inning before Drew Romo snagged a sacrifice bunt attempt from Jimmy Glowenke for the first out of the frame. After a Ghordy Santos single loaded the bases, Luke Taggart struck out Hunter Bishop and got a popup from Marco Luciano to end the threat.
