JUPITER, Fla. (May 6, 2022) – The St. Lucie Mets extended their winning streak to seven straight games with an 8-3 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Friday.

The Mets jumped out to an early 4-0 lead. Junior Tilien hit a two-out RBI single in the second inning, Omar De Los Santos grounded a two-run single in the third to make it 3-0 and Drake Osborn lifted a sac fly later in the inning to bring home De Los Santos for a 4-0 lead.

The Cardinals got a run back on a wild pitch in the bottom of the third, but Shervyen Newton delivered a big blow in the top of the fourth with a two-run homer to make it 6-1. It was Newton’s fourth home run of the season.

Mets starter Calvin Ziegler limited the Cardinals to two runs on two hits over 4.0 innings.

Carson Seymour piggy backed behind Ziegler and pitched the final five innings of the game. Seymour allowed just one run and four hits. The run scored against him by the Cardinals in the fifth inning was the first run he allowed this season. Seymour has now given up just one run in 20.0 innings.

The Mets scored their final two runs of the night if the seventh and eighth innings when failed pickoff throws let De Los Santos and Stanley Consuegra come in to score.

Alex Ramirez went 3 for 5 with his third triple of the year. He has three three-hit games in the series.

Newton, De Los Santos and Osborn had two hits apiece.

The Mets (18-7) and Cardinals (9-16) play the fifth game of their series on Saturday. Special first pitch time at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is 3 p.m.
