Rainiers Surge with Season-High Six Homers in 16-10 Win Over Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (August 5, 2026) — The Tacoma Rainiers (13-22/46-64) defeated the Las Vegas Aviators (19-15/62-45) 16-10 on Wednesday at Las Vegas Ballpark. Tacoma launched six home runs in the game, setting a new season high. Brock Rodden and Victor Labrada both had multi-homer games while Patrick Wisdom and Lazaro Montes also homered in the win. The four combined to drive in 13 of the Rainiers’ 16 runs and Labrada led the team with a season-high five RBI.

Tacoma’s offense exploded early with a six-run first inning as Brock Rodden (16) crushed the second pitch of the game over the left-center field wall. His first leadoff home run of the season gave Tacoma a 1-0 lead. Nolan Jones and Michael Arroyo worked back-to-back walks to keep the line moving. Then, Lazaro Montes tattooed a three-run blast to straight-away center field, extending the lead to four. Two batters later, Nick Raposo drew a walk and advanced to second when Spencer Packard worked the Rainiers’ fourth walk of the inning. Victor Labrada ripped a double off the right-center field wall, plating Raposo and Packard to cap off the frame and make it 6-0.

The Rainiers added on to their lead in the top of the fourth inning when Labrada (7) crushed a leadoff home run over the right-center field wall, making it 7-0.

Las Vegas got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Zack Gelof and Drew Swift hit back-to-back singles and then, Bryan Lavastida (5) smoked a three-run home run to left-center field, making it 7-3.

The Aviators got within one in the home half of the sixth inning. Brayan Buelvas pounded a single through the left side of the infield and made it to second on a throwing error. He advanced to third when Cole Conn singled to right field. Then, Darell Hernaiz doubled on a ground ball that bounced off of second base. Buelvas and Conn both scored on the play to make it 7-5. Hernaiz moved up to third when Jack Winkler lined out to center field. After Jared Dickey reached on a fielding error, Gelof reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Hernaiz from third to get Las Vegas within one, 7-6.

Tacoma responded with a four-run seventh inning. Patrick Wisdom walked on four pitches to lead off the frame and moved up to third when Montes reached on a fielding error. Then, Miles Mastrobuoni punched a single to left field, pushing Montes up to third and scoring Wisdom to make it 8-6. Raposo followed with a single of his own, bringing home Montes to push the Rainiers’ lead up to three. Mastrobuoni and Raposo advanced to second and third when Packard grounded out to second. The next batter, Labrada, moved Raposo up to third and brought Mastrobuoni home to score with a sacrifice fly to center field, making it 10-6. Brock Rodden lined a double to left field, plating Raposo to extend Tacoma’s lead to five.

The Aviators cut into the Rainiers’ lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lavastida beat out an infield single to lead off the frame. After Joey Meneses and Buelvas struck out, Cole Conn walked to put runners on first and second with two down. Then, Hernaiz ripped a single to left field, scoring Lavastida and making it 11-7.

Tacoma got the run back in the eighth inning. With two outs, Montes and Mastrobuoni drew back-to-back walks. The Rainiers capitalized on the free passes when Raposo smacked a single into the right-center field gap. Montes scored without a throw to give the Rainiers’ a 12-7 lead.

Las Vegas continued to battle in the home half of the eighth inning. Dickey worked a leadoff walk and advanced to second two batters later when Swift walked. The pair advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch and Lavastida drew the third walk of the frame to load the bases. Then, Joey Meneses hit a single into center field, scoring Dickey and Swift to make it 12-9.

Tacoma put the game away with three long balls in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Labrada (8) and Rodden (17) crushed back-to-back solo shots, extending the lead to five, 14-9. After Jones grounded out, Arroyo drew a walk and then, Patrick Wisdom (29) clubbed a two-run blast over the left-center field wall, making it 16-9.

The Aviators scratched across a run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Hernaiz was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame and moved up to second two batters later when Dickey worked a one-out walk. Then, Swift hit a single through the right side of the infield to bring home Hernaiz and make it 16-10. That was all Las Vegas could muster as Tacoma secured the 16-10 victory Wednesday night.

The Rainiers look to take the series lead Thursday night. RHP Nick Hull will toe the rubber for Tacoma. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.

• Tacoma batted around in the first inning Wednesday, marking their first time batting around in the first inning since September 12, 2025, in Salt Lake…the Rainiers scored six runs in the frame, the fifth time they have accomplished the feat this season and the first time since July 18 against Oklahoma City.

• Tacoma hit six home runs on Wednesday night, marking a new season-high…it marked the first time the Rainiers recorded six homers in a game since September 18, 2022 in Las Vegas…they also hit three home runs in the ninth inning, marking their second three-homer inning this season…the first time the Rainiers hit three long balls in an inning came on June 13 against Albuquerque.

• OF Lazaro Montes hit his third home run of the series Wednesday night, marking the first time he’s homered in back-to-back games with Tacoma…he finished 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, a walk, and three runs scored…since the All-Star break, Montes leads the PCL with 13 extra-base hits and 46 total bases…his eight doubles are tied for the most while his .697 SLG ranks third and five home runs are tied for the third-most in that span.

• OF Victor Labrada recorded three extra-base hits Wednesday, setting a new career-high…he finished 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored…Labrada also tied his career-high with two home runs, marking his first multi-homer game of the season and the third of his career, the first since June 21, 2024 with High-A Everett…he also drove in a season-high five runs, his most RBI in a game since recording five RBI on August 21, 2022 with High-A Everett.

• OF Nolan Jones walked three times on Wednesday night, finishing 1-for-3 with three walks and a run scored…he became the eighth Rainiers hitter to draw three walks in a game this season and the first since INF Ryan Bliss worked three free passes on July 18 against Oklahoma City.

• INF Patrick Wisdom hit his PCL-best 29th home run of the season in the ninth inning Wednesday, finishing 1-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, a walk, and two runs scored…it’s the fifth time this season Wisdom has homered in back-to-back games and the first since he had a home run in three straight games from July 9-11 in Las Vegas…Wednesday marked Wisdom’s seventh home run at Las Vegas Ballpark this season, tied for the most by a visiting player in a single season since at least 2005 with Dominic Canzone’s 2022 campaign.
