Trash Pandas shutout Smokies for second straight game, clinching series split

The Rocket City Trash Pandas defeated the Tennessee Smokies, 2-0, in the series finale. Rocket City starting pitcher Victor Mederos recorded the win on five scoreless innings, while Tennessee starting pitcher Brandon Birdsell recorded the loss, allowing one earned run in four innings pitched. Four different Trash Pandas relievers pitched a scoreless inning, including Mason Erla, who picked up his fourth save of the season.

Smokies reliever Dalton Moats made his debut, allowing one earned run in three innings pitched on two hits, no walks and three strikeouts. With the win, Rocket City improves to 19-19, while the Smokies drop to 22-17.

Next up, the Smokies travel yo the Sunshine State for a six-game set with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
