In an off-season of changes for Minor League Baseball, the Tulsa Drillers likely future received major clarification on Wednesday as they received an invitation from the Los Angeles Dodgers to remain the Double-A affiliate for the World Series Champions. A Drillers partnership with the Dodgers would continue the current affiliation that began in 2015.

The Drillers will now work with the Dodgers on a written agreement that could extend the partnership between the two teams for up to ten years.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers intent to continue their affiliation with the Drillers is great news for our organization, our fans and the city of Tulsa,” said Drillers General Manager Mike Melega.

“We are excited about the opportunity to continue this relationship as the Dodgers are a world-class organization that strives to do things right, both on the field and off.”

The Dodgers also extended invitations to the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Class-A Great Lakes Loons and the Class-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

“Our minor league communities are an integral part of the success we have had at the Major League level as each affiliate provides high-quality facilities and comprehensive support essential to developing World Champion caliber players,” said Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. “We are proud of the stability our minor league affiliates have provided over the years, and we want to continue our relationships with Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Great Lakes and Rancho Cucamonga.”
