For the second week in a row, and the fourth time this season, a Tulsa Drillers hurler has been named Texas Collegiate League Player of the Week. For the fifth and final week of the TCL season righthander Matt Merrill was named the North Division’s Player of the Week following his outing on August 1 against the Amarillo Sod Squad.

Merrill, who attends the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, had a stellar performance this past Saturday against the Sod Squad, pitching five scoreless innings while allowing only two hits. He also struck out 11 of the 20 batters he faced and only allowed one walk. Merrill finished the regular season with a 0.71 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched for the Drillers.

Merrill follows teammate Colton Williams as the second USAO player to receive the honor this season.
