BURLINGTON, VT --- The Vermont Lake Monsters extended its winning streak to five straight games with a 2-1 victory over the New Britain Bees in Futures Collegiate Baseball League action Wednesday night at historic Centennial Field.

The Lake Monsters scored its two runs in the fifth inning, the first without the benefit of a hit. Daniel Carinci (Kansas State) reached on an error and Andrew Bergeron (Georgetown) was hit by a one-out pitch. After a flyout, Carinci was able to score from second on a Pat DeSalvo (Georgetown) grounder to third that turned into a RBI fielder’s choice when Bergeron beat the throw to second.

Noah Granet (Princeton) followed with an RBI single to centerfield for his 10th RBI in 11 games this season. New Britain got a run back in the seventh on a Rory Lynch RBI single to center off reliever Tyler Fagler (1-1), who had a walk and three strikeouts over three innings to earn the win.

Vermont starter Patrick Harrington (Assumption) allowed three hits with three walks and four strikeouts over four scoreless innings of work. In three starts so far this season, Harrington has allowed just one earned run over 14 innings (0.64 ERA) with seven hits, six walks and 18 strikeouts.

Sammy Conte (Trinity University) allowed a one-out single and struckout three in the top of the eighth before Isaiah Rhodes (Southern Miss) struckout the side in the ninth for the save in his Lake Monsters debut.

Both Vermont runs were unearned against Bees starter Michael Boiyan (0-1), who gave up three hits with one walk and seven strikeouts ovr five innings to take the loss. Granet had two of the three hits on the night for Vermont (6-5).

The Lake Monsters head out on the road for a two-game series against the FCBL-leading Brockton Rox before returning home 6:05pm Saturday for Vermont’s only home game until June 19th.
